Why luca turilli left rhapsody of fire
But it's since many years already that Alex and I took the productions in our hands becoming producers of our own albums, despite Sascha remaining always fundamental as engineer and mixer man.
His mixes will remain legendary and our list of thanks will be never long enough for all the professional contribution he gave.
All the years of work, fun and sufferance in the Gate studios of Wolfsburg will surely remain unforgettable and are carved in our heart. We are now recording the new album at the Backyard Studio of Kempten, Germany. Apart from being a talented engineer, he is a great person and he shares with us the love for this style of music.
To resume, the new album will be produced by me as usual, while Sebastian will take care of the engineering, mixing and mastering process. NET story or review, you must be logged in to an active personal account on Facebook.

These versions of some of the best and most classic Rhapsody songs are just completely devoid of any emotion, the choirs that once sounded powerful and triumphant on songs like "Knightrider of Doom" or "Legendary Tales" are just flat and lifeless and Voli's vocals have NO emotion behind them.
Fabio is one of the most emotive singers in the world and I don't expect Voli to come anywhere close to him, but he could at least sound better than a high-school student trying to reenact MacBeth.
There are parts that literally sound like someone just reciting lyrics from a sheet they're holding up, not knowing what they're doing. It's all very mechanical and lifeless and don't even get me started on his strained and powerless high notes like in "Flames of Revenge" and would it kill him to use some vibrato once in a while? Fabio was a master of vibrato control and saturated Rhapsody songs with beautiful, thick, deep and smooth vibrato laced vocal lines.
Voli barely uses it here and when he does his tone is far too thin and wimpy. Hard to believe that an album that came out in would have worse production than ones from the late 90s or early s, however it's very true because the mix is much better on the classic albums, I don't know what it is, but something about this mix makes the orchestrations and baroque instruments sound weird, like sharper and more piercing than on the originals just listen to the harpsichord on "Emerald Sword" or "Beyond the Gates of Infinity" and compare it to the originals, I'm sure most people will notice the difference, it just sounds off, not to mention the modern production sound just drains all energy and life from the songs.
Though I think Roberto is a great guitarist, some of his solos here are kinda sloppy compared to how clean Luca always played and Roberto's tone is still just as awful sounding here as on the past two albums, it's a very abrasive, dry, trebly, muddy tone, which sounds so out of place and wrong to me on these songs that once had Luca's energetic, bright, rounded, creamy and powerful guitar tone on them. Every song on here is completely inferior to the original, but the one I think is the most blasphemous is "When Demons Awake" because not only is it one of my favorite Rhapsody tracks Which is also from my favorite album of all time it's one of their most aggressive and unique sounding too.
It was their first track to incorporate extreme metal elements. Fabio's harsh vocals on the original were so much better and very special, somewhere in-between a thrash metal shout and a black metal rasp. Here the vocals just sound like a generic Children of Bodom wannabe and Voli's clean high notes in the chorus are weak and powerless compared to Fabio's powerful Pavarotti-esque voice. You know, even though I'm ruthlessly tearing this album apart and have absolutely nothing good to say about it at all, if these were covers done by some random underground Italian Power Metal band I'd actually say they're pretty good, for amateurs, but this isn't coming from some unknown amateurs, this is coming from the band that DEFINED the Italian symphonic power metal sound.
Now more than ever it's apparent Luca was the primary songwriter for the band, but even so Alex had to have contributed something to those classic albums which I love so much and seeing how far he's fallen makes me physically ill. I expect so much more from Alex. It pains me to say it, but please just disband the band before you taint Luca, Fabio and even your legacy any further than you already have with this disgraceful Rhapsody covers album. Ahh, Rhapsody: the band who penned many an epic saga, but then ended up becoming a real-life saga themselves — though many would regard the whole episode as a farce.
There are some obvious choices, without which many fans would be angered, but I have my criticisms.
